Disappointing start of the season
Giedo van der Garde finished his first race in the GP2 series in tenth position. The iSport driver could start the race from fifth position but due to a gearbox problem he was unable to go full throttle on the straight and thus fell back to tenth position.

Van der Garde: “I couldn't do a thing on the straight. The gearbox ratio was wrong so I was way too fast in the rev limited. Apart from that we weren't too lucky with that safety car situation either who came out right after we did our pitstop.
Van der Garde will fly back on Saturday evening to Barcelona for the World Series by Renault party and to receive his trophy as the 2008 World Series by Renault champion.
