Thanks to Giedo’s strong personal drivers progress and striking racing results – leading Renault World Series now with 96 points vs 55 points for Nr 2 Julien Jousse (Tech 1) – he is invited by Vodafone McLaren Mercedes to develop his fitness together with Heikki Kovalainen in Finland August 4th – 7th. Without any doubt Heikki is one of the fittest drivers in the Formula 1 at this moment, which allows Giedo to measure himself with the very best in his field.

Martin Whitmarsh, CEO Formula 1 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, says:
“We are very impressed with Giedo’s mental and physical progress this year. The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver development programme coach him on all elements to develop his natural talent up to the highest possible level. This includes full sessions in our racing simulator, in which he scores very strong results on speed and consistency, but also mental coaching and driver fitness. We trust that he will continue his progress through our driver development program, in which the training with Heikki is just another element to let him compete on the highest professional level.”
Giedo says: “I am very much looking forward to this extensive training programme with Heikki, whom I admire for his very strong focus and dedication to professional racing. This will be a very welcome fitness break in the middle of a season that I can best describe as hectic, successful and a great step further to fulfil my ambition to become a complete, pure racing driver. I expect that the woods of Finland will be the best preparation for my next race at the Nurburgring in Germany.” (picture of Giedo black/white running in the woods).
